In the latest version of our Extension Development Kit (EDK 2.0), which will let you create app extensions for the Timescape and Music player apps in Sony Xperia™ phones, we’ve included some useful new API features. For example, you can now include the number of user reactions for your Timescape™ event. You can also make it possible for the end user to interact with an event object in the Timescape™ spline, without launching a detailed view. These updates will make it easier to create compelling app extensions that stand out. A bunch of developers have already created their own EDK extensions – learn more after the jump!
As part of ongoing contributions to the open source community, we’re today releasing two extensions for the Sony SmartWatch as open source. The first one is an extension to the Music player, which makes it possible to control the music player in your phone from SmartWatch. The second extension is called 8 Game, a puzzle game that can be played on the SmartWatch. With our Sony Add-on SDK, you can use these apps as a base for creating your own music player extension or game for SmartWatch. This is an excellent opportunity to get an innovative edge on your competition, and to get better visibility as your app will be easy to find for all SmartWatch users.

We have now released version 1.1 of the Extension Development Kit (EDK) from Sony Ericsson, where you can develop app extensions for both the Timecape™ social network app and the Music player in Sony Ericsson Android™ phones.
Creating an extension and publishing your app correctly will allow your app extension to display in either Timescape™ when a user searches for extensions, or in the Music player as an option when a user tap the Infinite key. As a result, this increases visibility and adds extra value to your app!
