Developer Program for PlayStation®Suite (Open Beta) now available

Last week, the Sony PlayStation® team announced that the Developer Program for PlayStation Suite is now available as an open beta program, free for anyone to join. So if you’re a developer targeting PlayStation™certified devices and PlayStation® Vita, and aiming to be present in the PlayStation® Store, this is something for you. Currently the Xperia S, Xperia ion, Xperia™ acro, Xperia acro HD, Xperia PLAY and Xperia arc are PlayStation certified smartphones. In addition, the Sony Tablet S and the Sony Tablet P are PlayStation™certified.

If you join the open beta program, you will be granted access to the PlayStation®Suite SDK and the PlayStation®Suite Development Assistant. This means you can create games and apps, and work with testing and debugging on PlayStation™certified devices and PlayStation® Vita during the beta period. While developing, it’s possible to make use of physical buttons as well as the touchscreen, by using the integrated development environment (IDE) and simulator for the PC, which are both included in the PlayStation®Suite SDK.

In addition to this, you will get access to the Developers Forum where you can discuss and interact with other developers, as well as staff from PlayStation® team.

There should be a PSM app the Xperia S app tray. If it’s not there, you will need to enable your device to install non-Market apps in Settings > Applications. Then, go back to the app tray on the device and click on “Let’s start PS Store”. You should then be able to download and start the PlayStation Mobile app, which will let you buy and play PlayStation games on the unit.
