If you haven’t already read or seen what Facebook inside Xperia is, here’s a brief recap. When you update the Xperia™ software on your Sony Ericsson smartphone with the Facebook inside Xperia update, users are able to “Like” a track from the music player, tag photos in the phone’s gallery, sync contacts in the phonebook with current Facebook statuses, and sync the calendar with Facebook events.  This should undoubtedly be a big hit with Sony Ericsson customers who use Facebook on a daily, if not hourly, basis.

Takeaways from E3 2011

A big thank you goes out to all the developers at E3 who stopped by the Sony Ericsson booth to talk to the Developer World team. We were very excited to meet with each of you and hear about your apps and games. We had several great discussions that led into asking developers to share their game ideas through our Standout site, so that they could potentially be part of marketing activities and placement in Sony Ericsson channels.

Have you ever spent fruitless hours trying to come up with an attractive user interface design for your mobile application, one that looks good and works well across various Android™ devices? Adam Beckley has. As one of the designers at the mobile solutions company, Mutual Mobile, Beckley had to contend with many of the obstacles that the Android platform presents to designers. The variety of devices and the growing number of form factors make UI design difficult – especially difficult with the lack of design guidelines. So Beckley did something about it. He created an Android Design Guidelines document that addresses some of the key elements of good UI design in an Android environment.

Sony Ericsson will be at this year’s Uplinq 2011 Conference in sunny San Diego, California. Hosted by Qualcomm, Uplinq brings together developers and publishers, device makers, OS and technology providers, and network operators to foster innovation within the wireless ecosystem. Along with a Mobile Innovations Showcase booth (#108) on the exhibit floor, Sony Ericsson will be part of the opening keynote speech and a speaker session, as well as the lead presenter for a lab session and breakout workshop.
