Erik Hellman.

Ever wondered how a manufacturer goes about to implement Android on a phone? Interested in how Sony Ericsson works with the Android platform? Erik Hellman from Sony Ericsson will present his experiences from working with Android at the Android Only event in Stockholm, Sweden, on Sept 29-30.

I guess the main theme of an event called Android Only is pretty apparent (I believe that a rather well known software platform using a cool green robot as a logo will be addressed), but this event will also focus on how to leverage the locational and social features of Android. Other topics will be how to develop stunning mobile games and how to integrate several Android form factors into your design process. And of course, some truly hardcore programming hints and tips will also be shared.

Sony Ericsson will represented at the event, and Erik Hellman’s presentation should not be missed. Erik is working as a lead software architect for the Android development at Sony Ericsson. He has been actively involved in all aspects of Sony Ericsson’s Android projects, from technical solutions to requirements and software process within the organisation. In his session at the Android Only event, Erik will present how Sony Ericsson implements Android on phone, from the beginning of a project until it is released to customers. You will learn about intricate details of Android usually only concerning manufacturers and operators. Erik will also address the challenges that a manufacturer face with an open platform, the opportunities presented and the conflicts between requirements that you probably never would imagine.

There are also a bunch of other interesting speakers and companies attending this event, including Spotify, The Astonishing Tribe (TAT), Jayway among others. If you are located in the Stockholm region and interested in Android, you should definitively not miss this event. For information on other events attended by Sony Ericsson, see the Developer World event calendar.

    @Erik, @tobias,
    Did you read this Sony CEO interview about Open-source?
    http://techon.nikkeibp.co.jp/article/HONSHI/20090427/169423/?P=1
    Why are you closing Android on the X10?
    “If we had gone with open technology from the start, I think we probably would have beaten Apple”
    “We can no longer say that we’re right and our customers are wrong. We can’t build only what we want to build.”

    We don’t care about your Timescape and Mediascape. Just give us the Android 2.2 update, the majority will remove the Timescape and Mediascape anyway.
    To Sony Ericsson CEO, you are loosing money and customers at the same time from your excuses.

    Look at this idiot called Stupidscape:

    “We don’t care about your Timescape and Mediascape (…) the majority will remove the Timescape and Mediascape anyway.”

    So then just STFU and sell your phone and buy some craptastic Samsung or Motorola and be happy and spam their board instaed of bosting your useless crap here.

    Lot of us DO care about Mediascape and use it every day – because there’s not one similarly all-in-one media center app on Android. Even with its madddening lame bugs – eg clicking on Infinite loads the fuckin’ album with tracks in reverse order etc – it’s STILL the best media center app, regardless of garbage comments from clueless idiots like you.
