Over the last few months, we’ve published a number of Extension Development Kit (EDK) blog posts and tutorials to help you develop extensions for both the Timescape social network app and the Music player in our Xperia™ smartphones. Now we’ve got another update for you – EDK 2.0 – and it includes an updated Timescape™ API that enables you to incorporate Facebook™-like actions (such as “liking” or commenting) for the users of the external apps you create for Timescape™. We’ve also included an emulator for Smart Extras for your convenience. Read on for more details and to download EDK 2.0.
The other day we published a tutorial on how to create Timescape™ extensions, and now it is time to launch version 1.2 of the Extension Development Kit (EDK). We are constantly adding more things to this toolbox, and in this version we’ve included the LiveKey™ emulator. Did you miss the release of the LiveKey SDK earlier this summer? No worries, it’s still around, and now we’ve updated it with an emulator. The LiveKey™ functionality was first introduced in the new LiveSound™ hi-fi headset, and using it gives you direct access to phone functions or applications with the click of a button. Maybe you want a simple speed dial to your mom, or the weather report to be read by text to voice? The only your limit is your imagination!
We met with Magnus Helgstrand from Sony Ericsson Smart Extras™ to find out more about LiveKey™ app extensions.
Last week we released the LiveKey™ and ConnectLaunch developer tools, and going forward we really hope to see some cool applications making use of the new smart functionalities in the LiveSound™ hi-fi headset and the LiveDock™ multimedia station. The code examples for both LiveKey™ and ConnectLaunch comes with extensive documentation, and we really hope that you will find it valuable. For your service, we have also created a LiveKey™ and ConnectLaunch developer thread on Google groups, where we will try to answer all of your LiveKey™ & ConnectLaunch developer related questions to the best of our efforts. Feel free to ask! We will try to come back with an answer as soon as possible.
Today Sony Ericsson is announcing two new smart accessories: the LiveSound™ hi-fi headset and the LiveDock™ multimedia station. These phone accessories are designed to extend and enhance your phone experience in new innovative ways. The LiveSound™ hi-fi headset is also the first headset to support the new LiveKey™ feature, which is a button on the headset to get direct access to phone functions or applications.
