Telecom Council Deep Dive: Wearables

Mar 18, 2015 - Mar 18, 2015 | Silicon Valley, California

TelecomCouncilSV

Telecom Council Deep Dives are short, packed, interactive discussions with top-notch networking. The field of wearable companion smart devices is exploding. Dozens of providers are chasing into the space, led by startups like Pebble and Basis and innovators like Google’s Glass team. With phones largely non-differentiated monoliths, different ion in the device space seems to be taking place on the wrist, with each provider cobbling together different features, screens, connector, and functions. Because battery power is so limited, as is screen real estate, compromises must be made, and this is what is fuelling the range of choices, none of which can be perfect. The Deep Dive Wearables meeting will discuss the battle for the wrist, and the other wearable categories. We’ll focus on consumer, and just touch on enterprise. Join us as we examine the latest crop from CES and MWC, and learn from leaders in the field.

Magnus Ekenheim, Director of Developer Technical Services at Sony, will be attending the event as a panellist and speaker to discuss wearables. Magnus will talk about how Sony is now enabling Augmented Reality in a wearable format through SmartEyeglass. He will also introduce a Microdisplay through the attachable Single-Lens Display module. Adding to that, new sensor technologies are becoming increasingly available in Sony wearables, all of which can be connected in the new Lifelog cloud services. He will also discuss how new tech means new enablers for developers to use, which in turn will open up new business opportunities.

For agenda, details and registration information, please see the Deep Dive Wearables event page.
