Thermanager aosp

AOSP update – Thermanager available on GitHub [open source]

Today we make the source code for Thermanager – a thermal management solution – available through our channel on GitHub. Thermanager prevents the device from overheating, and we’re happy to be able to make this crucial component available as open source.

Since the first release of Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for Xperia devices, thermal management for these projects has been handled by binaries released through Developer World. While this solves the immediate problem of devices overheating, it does not provide developers a way to customise, improve or analyse the behaviour of this important part of the system.

Therefore we have today released source code for Thermanager, which is a new solution for thermal management developed for and used in our AOSP for Xperia projects. Since its source code is licensed under the BSD license, you can use Thermanager for your own projects, and we hope you will join us in its continuous development.

We appreciate feedback and pull requests through GitHub – and feel free to drop us a comment below in case you have any questions!
