Today, we’ve officially announced the global availability of Xperia™ Tablet Z, the world’s slimmest LTE tablet. This premium HD tablet sets new standards for tablet thinness, weight, and water-resistance. Measuring only 6.9mm and weighing under 500g, it’s the thinnest and lightest LTE tablet available. And it has the highest levels of water resistance (IP55 & IP57) ever delivered in a tablet. Xperia™ Tablet Z is also the first tablet to run on the Qualcomm® quad-core Snapdragon™ S4 Pro processor. Read on to get the full specs for Xperia™ Tablet Z.
Xperia™ Tablet Z – the slimmest LTE tablet integrated with Sony technology
Xperia™ Tablet Z comes with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), and features a 10.1” HD 1920x1200p Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2, 8MP rear camera with Exmor R, a 2MP HD front facing camera. It also features the same OmniBalance design as its smartphone sibling, Xperia Z. The unique Omnibalance design means subtly rounded edges, smooth reflective surface, and a durable glass front display.
Inside, you’ll find a 1.5 GHz asynchronous quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with 2GB RAM. The best of Sony technology is available in Xperia™ Tablet Z, including S-Force Surround 3D to provide amazing audio performance alongside Clear Audio+ mode. The innovative use of two in-built speakers with four speaker halls on the left and right corners also delivers amazing sound no matter how it’s held. Battery STAMINA mode, Sony’s unique battery management technology, further improves standby time.
Easy & unrivalled connectivity
Xperia™ Tablet Z includes more connectivity options than any other tablet – screen mirroring, MHL, DLNA, W-Fi, LTE, Micro SD, USB, and NFC. With Sony’s NFC One-Touch functions, you can transfer content seamlessly from tablet to TV, speaker, phone, or another tablet just by touching them together. It also has a built-in, Universal IR Remote that allows users to control the TV, other Sony devices, and products from other manufacturers.
Develop your own Small Apps or IR Remote sensor apps
The Xperia™ Tablet Z has support for Small Apps, extended widgets that run on top of other applications and add smart solutions for daily routines requiring multi-tasking. An example is the Mini Remote Small app, which controls the volume with a small remote widget on your tablet when playing music. You can develop your own Small Apps, or apps for the IR Remote sensor, using the Sony Add-on SDK. For more information on developing these apps, check out our Sony Add-on SDK section on Developer World.
Availability and colours
Xperia™ Tablet Z will be available globally from Spring 2013. The available colour is black.
