Although I do have it working now for video playback to my laptop, but who knows how long for. Seems bad tech, and a lot of people are having the same problems including from older phone models so I guess I will not hold my breath for Sony to even worry about fixing it

Sorry for the delay. It is difficult to say what goes wrong in your cases, but for example, it could be that the TV doesn’t support MP4 video playback. Even if the TV is certified by DLNA.org, some older models might not support MP4 video playback.
