Manage your data and power consumption and enjoy HD voice with Xperia™ E
Xperia™ E supports HD Voice, a technology that transmits a broader spectrum of the human voice, resulting in more natural sounds and better clarity, even in noisy environments. HD Voice functionality is operator dependent, and only available to consumers on the same national network, and where both the calling and called party each has an HD Voice-compatible mobile phone – please check with your operator to see if HD Voice is available in your area.

With Xperia™ E, cost and power consumption can be easily monitored, thanks to a data usage app that shows how much is being spent. And even better, with the Extended Standby Mode feature, battery life is saved by closing apps in sleep mode, thereby increasing standby up to 4 times.

Xperia™ E dual makes it possible for you to easily switch between SIM cards with the most cost effective data plan, anytime with a simple touch, and each SIM card is customisable with separate ring signals.

Great entertainment experiences with Sony Entertainment Network*, in-built “WALKMAN” application, & Music Unlimited
Xperia™ E users have access to all types of premium content in the Sony Entertainment Network*, including millions of music tracks from Music Unlimited. You also get superior sound quality with the in-built “WALKMAN” Sony media application including xLOUD™ audio technology, 3D surround sound and manual equaliser. And you’ll be able to easily share and view all your premium content on TV, tablet and PC through Xperia™ E’s DLNA connectivity.

Develop Xperia™ games, apps and custom app extensions
A wide range of Sony SDKs and developer tools are available for Xperia™ E. With the Sony add-on SDK, you can create apps for Smart Extras™ accessories (SmartWatch and Smart Wireless Headset pro). You can also create extensions that enhance the capabilities of Timescape™ and Music player, signature apps in every Xperia™ smartphone, by using our Sony add-on SDK. And if you’re a game developer, you can easily create games for Xperia™ E with the Unity game engine. See our previous blog posts on using Unity for game development.

Availability and colours
Xperia™ E and Xperia™ E dual will be available from Q1 2013. For Xperia™ E, the available colours are black, pink and white. For Xperia™ E dual, the available colours are gold and black.

Dual SIM functionality is only available in Xperia™ E dual.

ok, first of all I know that this is an old post, but i have a few questions about this device.
    (1) Will Xperia E get any more official updates or upgrades as of now? (maybe a kitkat update…)
    (2) Will this device be in the AOSP of Sony?
    (3) Are there any developers on Sony still working for this device? or everyone moved on & left this device for good?

    Hi Joe,
I have been using Sony (Ericsson) series for approx. 6 years. On previous 4.1.1, the walkman player had sound enhancements options. After the update, even the basic options weren’t there. Even some options and apps are missing. It would be nice if there is a standalone update for the walkman app, the main USP which had me loyal to the brand. A good solution would be welcomed.
It would be great if Sony rolled out Kitkat update for this one. Looking forward.

My (most peoples) xperia e single sim has a periodic lag issue..this lag comes suddenly and stays for a minute. Apps xperia UI,games everything lags,I first thought the phone was not powerful enough, then watching youtube reviews about dual sim ,i saw they experienced no lag…not only that 3d games like GTA III (400mb game) ran smooth as butter on dual sim.,on single sim 2d&3d games ,apps and main menu ,lags for 40 seconds or so .but when it runs smoothly no one even doubts it has such an issue.I an out of options and I kindly request your team to look into this matter and release a patch to fix this issue

      Hi Minh,
The power management feature found in Xperia E was only recently developed. The feature wasn’t available at the time that Xperia tipo was released.
      Thanks and best regards,

      Hi Muhammad,
Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, the current Xperia smartphones that have dual sim (Xperia E dual and Xperia tipo dual) do not have front facing cameras. Happy to hear that you’re loving Xperia pro. Hopefully, we’ll have another model soon that will suit your needs.
      Thanks and best regards,
      Joe from Developer World
