Xperia™ go signature features – IP67, pressure sensor, access to Sony Entertainment Network
Xperia™ go features an Ingress Protection (IP)  rating of 67. The IP number specifies the environmental protection of enclosures around electrical equipment. The first number refers to protection against solid objects; the second refers to protection against liquids. For Xperia™ go, the device has total protection against dust, and protection against the effects of water immersion between 15cm and 1m.

It also comes with a pressure sensor, which developers can utilise in the weather-related or barometric pressure-apps through the Android sensor API. For more information on the pressure sensor, check out our latest barometric pressure article. Xperia™ go also offers access to Sony Entertainment Network*, including Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited.

Fluid graphics and low power utilisation
Xperia™ go incorporates a 1 GHz dual core ST-Ericsson NovaThor™ U8500 processor to deliver superior performance. The U8500 uses SMP (Symmetric Multi-Processing) dual core technology with a high-end 3D graphics accelerator, which enables a full web-browsing experience. For more information about the U8500 platform, check out ST-Ericsson’s NovaThor U8500 product page.

This new smartphone also has an ARM Mali 400 GPU that is OpenGL ES 2.0 conformant and provides 2D and 3D acceleration with performance scalable up to 1080p resolutions. To learn about OpenGL ES, read our previous blog post on 3D for Android. Xperia™ go provides a vivid viewing experience on a mineral glass and scratch-resistant, LCD display, and is powered by the Mobile BRAVIA® engine for colour management, noise reduction, sharpness filtering, and contrast management for close to real image reproduction. Hi! What if I will try to bring my Acro S under water while swimming on a 4 or 5ft pool? would that bring any damaged to it? I haven’t tried it yet because I’m afraid that something not good will happen. Help please? Thanks a lot! :)

      Hi Nicey,
Xperia Acro S can be used in fresh water under up to 1 meter of submersion for a duration of maximum 30 minutes, so you should be okay. There’s a lot of YouTube videos posted of people using Xperia Acro S underwater too. :)
      Best regards,

In this five years of using Sony (Ericcson) phones, I notice that Sony is always behind competition. And I know now: a sign that Sony is making great products it will be when Apple sue Sony (as it did with Samsung, HTC, Motorola) for patents or any other reasons… :) But until then… My disapppointing Xperia arc it will be the last Sony phone I use; with the crack in the housing and the lack of support for this in my country, with the easily to scratch screen and housing, althought I`m using a good cover case to protect it, with Wi-Fi and the notification led not working after ICS update, with not keeping my custom settings for ringtones, with my blurring photos because Exmor R & the flashlight are useless etc. And we are talking about an (ex-)flagship, isn`t it?… I wanted to see, just for once, that the Sony did the best phone in the market for one year, but I`m getting old and I don`t have patience anymore. Maybe acro S it will be what I desired for, but I can`t lose money for another disappointement, I`m too poor for that (I gain less than 400 euros / month, in my country the earnings are very little)… So this is a farwell and maybe we will meet again… Goodluck, Sony!

What do I get from the sleek looks and shapes and hardware and ginger bread or garlic bread or white bread or black bread. I am looking for the phone that could make life easier. A phone that forces you to spend hours on forums searching for apps to do simple things is simply stupids

xperia sucks. Can not handle simple things that were available in the previous phone that I used. Reviews like these are written not by actual users. Following things are not available that I used to take for granted in my earlier Nokia phone:
    1) send contact as text is not available.

    2) They conveniently forgot to include groups options for contacts. They think that business people have few tens of contacts not thousands so their management was overlooked.

    3) They expect that you will download three hundreds apps each doing a simple function that was available in nokia.

    4) No easy way to organize your sms in folders. Need to have an app that does it in a convoluted fashion requiring too many clicks. I need to store my sms in folders according to their topics such as jokes, or my project 1, project 2 etc.

    5) I have been trying several apps for contacts groups management. None does the automatic thing available in nokia for groups management. The ones that do some thing do it in a convoluted fashion. There is no search option for selecting from thousands of contacts in for e.g. go sms/expandable app or other such apps.

    6) on and on.

    7) there is no help. You need to spend hours on forums for every teen bit of thing that you want to do.

    8) I need to spend days on forums like these to get to do a simple thing.

    9) I am lamenting my decision to go for xperia/android. They think that let the third parties do every thing, let the user worry about his requirements. We are just going to sell the hardware and that is that. Let the buyer run from pillar to post to get simple things done.

    10) At least xperia should be able to do all the things that google browser accounts allow you to do with the contacts. They can’t even copy such a thing what would they do.
