Android™ Gingerbread coming to Xperia™ X10 generic trade kits

Sony Ericsson Xperia™ X10

Sony Ericsson has previously communicated  that we did not plan for any further upgrades of the Xperia™ X10 beyond Android 2.1 Éclair. This was correct at the time, but it has now changed and we plan to bring an upgrade to Android™ Gingerbread for generic trade kits of the Xperia™ X10 at the end Q2 or early Q3 this year. We have simply listened to our consumers, and the development of the software for our new 2011 range of Xperia™ phones gave us a solution that made it possible to deliver Android™ Gingerbread on Xperia™ X10.

    I do have a sony ericsson experia x10i and my phone have an 8.1megapixel camera but then its inconvenient and you cannot6appreciate it since theres no flash on it only a photo light.. can I upgrade my phones camera settings with regards on camera flash??? and the 3Dphoto capture too??? is it downloadable??? my phone now is upgraded to 2.3..

    WY Sony don’t active update for x8 android 2.2 and up …..???????????
    i like x8 more than x10 mini and x10
    if sony don’t active up date for x8 i change my mobile to sumsong
    active the android 2.2 above for x8 very soon

    This is still a decent phone, but far from the ones that Samsung is manufacturing. I am still a user because of the incredible work of people at xda-dev.
    I know Gingerbread will be a HUGE improvement on performance but please, let us remove the SE apps without rooting the phone.
    For those complaining about memory issues, there is a great program named Link2SD that provides the same kind of support as APP2SD. It runs on Android 2.1 too!

    I am using x10 mini pro. I am little bit disappointed with the contact application which is coming with 2.1 os. In contact list there is no contact photo but in call log. We usually store the contact photo while we are creating new contact. I hope we will get the updated contact application with contact photo implementation in contact list in next update. As well as we need the option to install app in sd card a so that we can enjoy the sweetness of ANDROID and also X10 MINI PRO.

    HOWEVERRRR, the only reason i haven’t moved on is because im stuck on a freaking plan for TWO years!! with this phone.
    I was actually online right now to learn to root the phone. now, ill wait for the update.
    Xperia is a decent phone i guess, (absolutely LOVE THE CAMERA) but as a phone, htc and samsung is so much better.

    i know lots of ppl have moved on and if this update isnt worth it i will probably have to pay the excessive amount of money to virgin mobile and update the phone :(

    SE go for the last update of the minis and x8s to 2.3. We won’t demand next to the 2.3. We have to get the 2.3 update because we need it as we are ignorant that we went for the cheap phones. If we would have spent more money for buying the big x10, then only we can get the update without any difficulties. Now we definitely required the application to sd and flash for which you have to help us. Common sony, do it else you are going to be fired by the middle order sony users.

    come on SE, dont be a d**k to ur customers.

    we fkin bought ur product and u refused to listen.

    now its good that u want to bring gingerbread to x10, but there’s another thing that WE WANT, the 16m color display!

    u dont want to lose your customers in a long run.
